The MX103Q S2 DC Power Supply's Capabilities
Mixed-Mode Regulation
AIM-TTi's MX103Q S2 DC Power Supply achieves its remarkable power density by merging high-frequency switch-mode pre-regulation with linear post-regulation. This combination results in a performance that rivals that of a purely linear design, characterized by superior line and load regulation, minimal noise, and excellent transient response.
Power Share Feature
The quad output model of MX103Q S2 can deliver up to 210W of power for each output plus one output of 105 watts, amounting to a total power of 420W. This can be achieved at any given time without the need to deactivate another output.
High Setting Resolution
For tasks that demand the utmost precision and resolution, the MX103Q S2 provides up to 5-digit setting and metering for both voltage and current. The finest resolution achievable is 1mV/0.1mA and 1mV/1mA.
OVP and OCP Trips
Each output of the MX103Q S2 is equipped with adjustable trips for over-voltage and over-current. Unlike a limit setting, the trip setting deactivates the output, offering an additional layer of protection.
TripLink on MX-Q/QP Models
The MX103Q S2 DC Power Supply's TripLink feature allows the OVP and OCP trips of one output to be connected to other outputs. If a trip is triggered, all linked outputs will be tripped simultaneously.
Current Meter Averaging
When dealing with rapidly fluctuating loads, obtaining useful readings from a digital current meter can be challenging. By opting for meter averaging, the reading is stabilized by displaying the average of multiple readings, thereby reducing the speed and extent of the fluctuation.
Voltage Tracking
While all outputs are entirely independent and isolated, the MX103Q S2 power supply can be configured such that the voltage of one output automatically tracks the voltage of another output. This tracking feature can be used to set equal voltages of the same or opposite polarities, which can be especially useful when outputs have been wired in parallel or series, allowing control by adjusting a single output voltage.
Up to 250 Setting Stores and Multi-Output Linked Memories
AIM-TTi's MX103Q S2 incorporates non-volatile stores for quick recall of voltage and current settings (along with Range, OVP, and OCP). Each output has its own set of 50 setting stores. Additionally, 50 more memories are provided that store settings for all outputs collectively.
LCD Color Display
The MX103Q S2 DC Power Supply boasts a 5.2-inch Bar Type TFT LCD Display Module with a resolution of 480 x 128 pixels, multiple font sizes, and graphic icons. Unlike some other multi-output power supplies, this series simultaneously displays voltage, current, and other vital information for all outputs. Each output also has an individual display mode which offers larger digits and allows OVP, OCP, current meter averaging, and range to be viewed and changed. This screen also provides access to 50 memory stores for the output.
On/Off Synchronism and Sequencing
Circuits can be damaged if one voltage rail is present without the other, or if voltage rails are not applied in the correct sequence. In addition to the individual output on/off buttons, there are additional buttons for Multi-On and Multi-Off. By default, these turn all of the outputs on or off simultaneously. They can also be configured to operate any combination of outputs in a user-defined sequence with delays ranging from 10 milliseconds to 20 seconds.
Bench/System Multi-Range DC Power Supply - MX Series 2 Overview
The MX Series 2 employs a mixed mode regulation across up to four outputs to deliver a maximum of 420W of power with full capabilities on all outputs. Every output is equipped with features such as high-resolution metering, switchable remote sensing, over-voltage and over-current protection trips, constant voltage or constant current operation, and a dedicated output switch. To cater to a broad spectrum of applications, each output offers multiple ranges, allowing the user to opt for either a higher voltage or a higher current.
The power sharing within the MX100Q/QP and MX103Q/QP models enables a single output to deliver up to 210 watts (105 watts for O/P4 on the MX103Q/QP), without the need to disable other outputs. If there is a need for a higher power level on the MX100T/TP and MX180T/ TP models, up to two outputs can be turned off to double the power from one or two outputs - up to 210 watts for the MX100T/TP and up to 360 watts for the MX180T/TP.
Output and Remote Sense Terminals
Output and remote sense terminals on the P version models of the MX series 2 are on the front and rear panels. An IVI driver for Windows is included. This provides support for common high-level applications. Test Bridge software is free to download from www.aimtti.com.
Interfaces
Full digital remote control facilities are available through the USB, RS232, LAN and GPIB (optional) interfaces only on P versions. Setting and readback resolutions are the same as for the Output and Meter specifications respectively.
Application Areas For the MX Series 2 Include
- Medium to high power bench-top applications requiring multiple outputs
- Situations where voltage and current requirements may vary widely between projects
- Powering rail sensitive circuits using the on/off synchronism and sequencing
- Repetitive testing applications requiring multioutput settings memories
- High density system applications requiring multiple outputs from limited rack space
